Kerplookee Fantasy Golf
Length of Season | Joining the Game | Create/Join a League | Selecting Golfers | Scoring | Bonus Scoring
Overview:
Each tournament week you choose an eight-man team from four groupings of golfers with different salary caps for each group. Your starting foursome that is active for the final round will determine your earnings for the week and will be referred to as your "Final Foursome". Your earnings will be determined by the actual money your "Final Foursome" earns for the tournament that week. Between rounds you can bring reserves off your bench to take the place of struggling starters. The challenge is not only to pick the best team week in and week out, but also to manage your team in a way that produces the highest possible fantasy score. Basically this is done by making sure all of the golfers in your "Final Foursome" make the cut each week. Not always an easy task!
Length of Season: 2012
The 2012 season will officially start with Waste Management Phoenix Open in Scottsdale, AZ on February 2, and run through the end of the Fall Segment.
The 2012 Kerplookee fantasy golf pro game will be broken down into four segments. The Winter fantasy golf segment begins with the Waste Management Phoenix Open in Scottsdale, AZ (Feb 2-5 and ends with the Shell Houston Open (March 29 - April 1). The Spring fantasy golf segment starts with The Masters in Augusta, GA (April 5-8) and runs through the FedEx St. Jude Classic in Memphis, TN (June 7-10). The Summer fantasy golf segment starts with the US OPEN at Olympic Club (June 14-17) and ends with the WGC-Bridgestone Open at Firestone (August 2-5). The Fall fantasy golf segment begins with the PGA Championship (August 9-12) and ends with the The McGladrey Classic in Sea Island, GA (Ocober 18-21).
In the event that a Kerplookee tournament is postponed until after the end date of a particular segment, the tournament will be removed from that Kerplookee segment schedule and added to the following Kerplookee tournament segment. In the event that a tournament is postponed until after November 6th, the tournament will be removed from the Kerplookee Contest tournament schedule all together.
Joining the Game:
The game is comprised of weekly contests that begin on Thursday and conclude on Sunday, unless a Monday playoff is required to decide a real-life tournament winner.
The deadline to add golfers to your roster for the upcoming tournament is sometime in the morning before the first tee shot is hit. Be sure to check the Teams and Leagues page for the official cut off time each week since starting tee times vary. Tournaments usually start on Thursdays but pay attention; there are a couple tournaments that start on Wednesdays.
You cannot create a new team once the current week’s tournament has begun.
Creating/Joining a League:
Create up to three Private groups and personally invite only those friends or colleagues you want to join. To join someone else's Private group, you must get the Group ID# and password from the group founder.
If you don not have a whole group of managers ready to sign up, you can join one of our Fans Of groups and compete with like-minded fantasy fans from around the world.
Managers can be a part of no more than three Private or Fans Of groups at any one time.
All members, regardless of group affiliation, are tracked on the overall weekly leader board to determine the weekly winner.
Selecting Golfers:
Before each tournament you select up to eight golfers to be on your team. You may select one or two golfers from each list (Tee Box); Group A (The Tips), Group B (Blue Tees), Group C (White Tees) and Group D (Red Tees) making sure to stay within the salary cap limits for each Group. From the eight golfers you select you must start only one golfer from each group. The rest of your golfers are reserves, who don't score for your team, unless they are activated and remain in your lineup for the final round. ONLY THE FOURSOME IN YOUR LINEUP FOR THE FINAL ROUND SCORE FOR YOUR TEAM EACH WEEK. This group is referred to as your "Final Foursome".
To activate a golfer, click the checkbox next to his name that says active and then click "Submit". Your selections are not saved unless you select the "Submit" button.
The deadline to make changes for the next scheduled round of a tournament will be announced on the teams and leagues page and the team page of the website each week. For example, if you have Tiger Woods and Ernie Els on your team as your Group A players and Tiger is in your starting position at the start of the tournament. Let's say Ernie shoots a first round 64 and has a 4 stroke lead. You may want to move Ernie into your starting position in order to receive bonus points for him in round two, assuming he stays in the top three spots. (see below for bonus point scoring) In order to get the bonus points for Ernie Els in round two you would need to have him in your starting lineup BEFORE the start of round two.
If you don't make any changes, your active foursome remains the same for the next day.
There is no cost for moving your players from your bench to your active lineup.
Each week you will be allowed ONE waiver move TOTAL if you wish. Waiver moves are not required to be made but may help your team in the case some of your golfers miss the cut or are not on top of the leader board. Keep in mind however that you need to stay within the respective salary cap for each group when making your waiver moves.
Waiver moves - $0.00
Scoring:
Your "Final Foursome" (1 golfer from each group) in your active spot for the last round of the tournament, receives fantasy points based upon the actual money won by your "Final Foursome" in that week's tournament.
Example:
Let's assume your "Final Foursome" consists of Phil Mickelson in Group A, Jim Furyk in Group B, Sergio Garcia in Group C and John Daly in Group D. Now let's say Jim Furyk wins the tournament that week and receives $1,000,000 for the victory. Phil Mickelson finished in 5th place and received $150,000. Sergio Garcia finished 20th and received $50,000 and John Daly shot a final round 82 and missed the cut. Your team would receive $1,200,000 that week plus any bonus points you may have received for having the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place golfer in your starting lineup at the completion of each round.
Tie Breaker:
In the event of a tie the winner will be the team with the most bonus points for the week. If both teams also have the same bonus points then we will go to a bench playoff. The winner will be the team whose golfers on the bench had the most earnings for the week.
Bonus Scoring:
At the completion of each round during a tournament your fantasy golf team will receive bonus money for golfers sitting in 1st, 2nd or 3rd place. If you happen to have the golfer on your team who is sitting in 1st, 2nd or 3rd place after the completion of round one your fantasy golf team will receive bonus money as follows:
Bonus for sitting in 1st place
Round 1 - $10,000, Round 2 - $20,000, Round 3 - $30,000, Round 4 - $40,000
Bonus for sitting in 2nd place
Round 1 - $5,000, Round 2 - $10,000, Round 3 - $15,000, Round 4 - $20,000
Bonus for sitting in 3rd place
Round 1 - $2,500, Round 2 - $5,000, Round 3 - $7,500, Round 4 - $10,000
In order for your golfer to be eligible for bonus money he must be on your team prior to the start of that round. Here are some examples:
Example #1
At the completion of round one let's pretend the leader board looks like this:
1) Tiger Woods -6
2) Phil Michelson -5
3) Jim Furyk -4
4) Ernie Els -2
If you had Woods, Mickelson and Furyk on your fantasy golf team before the start of round one, you would receive $17,500 in bonus money. ($10,000 for Woods, $5,000 for Mickelson and $2,500 for Furyk).
If you had only Tiger and Phil on your fantasy golf team, before the start of round one, and not Furyk you would receive $15,000 in bonus money. ($10,000 for Woods and $5,000 for Michelson).
If Lefty was the only golfer you had on your fantasy golf team, before the start of round one, you would receive $5,000.
Example #2
At the completion of round two, let's pretend the leader board looks like this:
1) Tiger Woods -9
T2) Phil Michelson -8
T2) Jim Furyk -8
T2) Kenny Perry -8
5) Ernie Els -7
In this scenario there is no 3rd place bonus money awarded for round two but rather three 2nd place bonus monies awarded.
If you had Woods, Mickelson, Furyk and Perry on your fantasy golf team, before the start of round two, you would receive $50,000 in bonus money for round one ($20,000 for Woods, $10,000 for Mickelson, $10,000 for Furyk and $10,000 for Perry).
If you had Woods and Perry on your fantasy golf team, before the start of round two, you would receive $30,000 in bonus money for round two. ($20,000 for Woods and $10,000 for Perry).
Example #3
At the completion of round three, let's assume the leader board looks like this:
T1) Tiger Woods -12
T1) Kenny Perry -12
T3) Ernie Els -10
T3) Jim Furyk -10
T3) Phil Michelson -10
T3) Lucas Glover -10
7) Retief Goosen -9
In this scenario there is no 2nd place bonus money awarded for round three but four 3rd place bonus monies awarded.
If you had Woods, Els and Glover on your fantasy golf team, before the start of round three, you would receive $45,000 in bonus money. ($30,000 for Woods, $7,500 for Els and $7,500 for Glover).
If you had Els, Furyk and Mickelson on your fantasy golf team, before the start of round three, you would receive $22,500 in bonus money. ($7,500 for Els, $7,500 for Furyk and $7,500 for Mickelson).
If you had Woods, Perry and Glover on your team, before the start of round three, you would receive $67,500 in bonus money. ($30,000 for Woods, $30,000 for Perry, and $7,500 for Glover).
The same bonus system would apply at the completion of round four. At the completion of the tournament all of your bonus money will be added to your team tournament earnings to derive your total fantasy golf team earnings for that respective week.
