Overview:
Pick up to 10 golfers each week staying under the salary cap. Salaries are based on the previous year's official PGA Tour money list. All golfers below #125 on the previous year's money list, all rookies, nationwide tour graduates, q-school qualifiers and all other players not listed on the PGA Tour money list cost $500,000 towards the salary cap on your fantasy golf team. Salary Caps are subject to change depending on the strength of the field each week.
You are allowed one and only one waiver move each week.
Waiver moves must be submitted before the cutoff time of the final round. Cutoff time will be posted on the Teams and Leagues page and the Team page each week and highlighted in red letters. Please pay attention to the cutoff times as they are subject to change.
No 2-for-1 or 1-for-2 deals allowed. If your team at the beginning of the week only has 7 golfers of the 10 golfer maximum then your team must stay at 7 golfers the whole week.
Enter up to 3 teams per session.
Each week your fantasy golf team accumulates the money that your players actually win in the respective tournament that week. If some of the players on your fantasy golf team should miss the cut, then you make $0.00 for those players that week. Only the players on your fantasy golf team who are in the field and make the cut earn any money for your team that week.
At the completion of each round during a tournament your team will receive bonus money for golfers sitting in 1st, 2nd or 3rd place. See below for a full description of bonus scoring.
Length of Season: 2012
The 2012 Kerplookee fantasy golf game will be broken down into four segments. The Winter fantasy golf segment begins with the Waste Management Phoenix Open in Scottsdale, AZ (Feb 2-5 and ends with the Shell Houston Open (March 29 - April 1). The Spring fantasy golf segment starts with The Masters in Augusta, GA (April 5-8) and runs through the FedEx St. Jude Classic in Memphis, TN (June 7-10). The Summer fantasy golf segment starts with the US OPEN at Olympic Club (June 14-17) and ends with the WGC-Bridgestone Open at Firestone (August 2-5). The Fall fantasy golf segment begins with the PGA Championship (August 9-12) and ends with the The McGladrey Classic in Sea Island, GA (Ocober 18-21).
In the event that a Kerplookee tournament is postponed until after the end date of a particular segement, the tournament will be removed from that Kerplookee segment schedule and added to the following Kerplookee tournament segment. In the event that a tournament is postponed until after October 21, the tournament will be removed from the Kerplookee Contest tournament schedule all together.
Kerby Hint: Play all five sessions or your chances of winning the overall Grand Prize are not very good.
Joining the Game:
The fantasy golf game is comprised of weekly contests that begin on Thursday and conclude on Sunday, unless a Monday playoff is required to decide a real-life tournament winner.
The deadline to add golfers to your fantasy golf roster for the upcoming tournament is up until the deadline before the first round of the tournament. The deadline will be posted on the Teams and Leagues page and also the Team page each week. Please pay close attention to the deadline as it is subject to change. Tournaments usually start on Thursdays but pay attention; there are a couple tournaments that start on Wednesdays.
Kerby Hint: Pick your fantasy golf team on Monday or Tuesday, there's nothing on TV those nights anyway.
You cannot create a new fantasy golf team once the current week's tournament has begun and your fantasy golf roster will consist of the same golfers that were on your fantasy golf team the previous week.
Creating/Joining a League:
Create up to three fantasy golf teams and join public or private fantasy golf groups. You can also create your own private fantasy golf group and personally invite only those friends or colleagues you want to join. If you create your own private fantasy golf group you will create a group password and be issued a group number. Once created you simply email those people you wish to join your fantasy golf group and give them the group ID and password. To join someone else's Private group you must get the fantasy golf Group ID# and password from the group founder.
If you don't have a whole group of manager's ready to sign up, you can join one of our Public groups and compete with like-minded fantasy golf fans from around the world.
Managers can be a part of no more than three Private or Public fantasy golf groups at any one time.
Kerby Hint: Play in three fantasy golf leagues; it increases your chances to win the prizes!
All users, regardless of group affiliation, are tracked on the overall leader board.
Selecting Golfers:
Before each tournament you may select UP TO ten golfers to be on your fantasy golf team. (You do not have to select ten but you can pick no more than ten). Each week you are allowed one waiver more. This means you can drop one golfer from your fantasy golf team (most likely one that misses the cut) and add another golfer to your fantasy golf team (most likely one who made the cut) from the waiver wire. Obviously the waiver move you make must keep your fantasy golf team at or below the salary cap limit. (Remember the salary cap is subject to change depending on the field strength each week). Waiver moves cannot be carried over to future weeks so use it or lose it.
Kerby Hint: Unless all of your golfers make the cut it would be wise to exercise your waiver move.
Scoring:
Each week your fantasy golf team accumulates the money that your fantasy golf players actually win in the respective tournament that week. If some of the fantasy golf players on your fantasy golf team should miss the cut, then you make $0.00 for those fantasy golf players that week. Only the fantasy golf players on your team who are in the field and make the cut earn any money for your fantasy golf team that week.
Kerby hint: Take Tiger when you can, he wins a lot!
Tie Breaker:
In the rare event of a tie the winner will be the team with the most bonus points for the week. If both teams also have the same bonus points then the winner will be the team with the most money earned so far in that particular segment.
Bonus Scoring:
At the completion of each round during a tournament your fantasy golf team will receive bonus money for golfers sitting in 1st, 2nd or 3rd place. If you happen to have the golfer on your team who is sitting in 1st, 2nd or 3rd place after the completion of round one, your fantasy golf team will receive bonus money as follows:
Bonus for sitting in 1st place
Round 1 - $10,000, Round 2 - $20,000, Round 3 - $30,000, Round 4 - $40,000
Bonus for sitting in 2nd place
Round 1 - $5,000, Round 2 - $10,000, Round 3 - $15,000, Round 4 - $20,000
Bonus for sitting in 3rd place
Round 1 - $2,500, Round 2 - $5,000, Round 3 - $7,500, Round 4 - $10,000
In order for your golfer to be eligible for bonus money he must be on your team prior to the start of that round. Here are some examples:
Example #1
At the completion of round one let's pretend the leader board looks like this:
1) Tiger Woods -6
2) Phil Michelson -5
3) Jim Furyk -4
4) Ernie Els -2
If you had Woods, Mickelson and Furyk on your fantasy golf team before the start of round one, you would receive $17,500 in bonus money. ($10,000 for Woods, $5,000 for Mickelson and $2,500 for Furyk).
If you had only Tiger and Phil on your fantasy golf team, before the start of round one, and not Furyk you would receive $15,000 in bonus money. ($10,000 for Woods and $5,000 for Mickelson).
If Lefty was the only golfer you had on your fantasy golf team, before the start of round one, you would receive $5,000.
Example #2
At the completion of round two, let's pretend the leader board looks like this:
1) Tiger Woods -9
T2) Phil Michelson -8
T2) Jim Furyk -8
T2) Kenny Perry -8
5) Ernie Els -7
In this scenario there is no 3rd place bonus money awarded for round two but rather three 2nd place bonus monies awarded.
If you had Woods, Mickelson, Furyk and Perry on your fantasy golf team, before the start of round two, you would receive a $50,000 round two bonus points ($20,000 for Woods, $10,000 for Mickelson, $10,000 for Furyk and $10,000 for Perry).
If you had Woods and Perry on your fantasy golf team, before the start of round two, you would receive $30,000 in bonus money for round two. ($20,000 for Woods and $10,000 for Perry).
Example #3
At the completion of round three, let's assume the leader board looks like this:
T1) Tiger Woods -12
T1) Kenny Perry -12
T3) Ernie Els -10
T3) Jim Furyk -10
T3) Phil Michelson -10
T3) Lucas Glover -10
7) Retief Goosen -9
In this scenario there is no 2nd place bonus money awarded for round three but four 3rd place bonus monies awarded.
If you had Woods, Els and Glover on your fantasy golf team, before the start of round three, you would receive $45,000 in bonus money. ($30,000 for Woods, $7,500 for Els and $7,500 for Glover).
If you had Els, Furyk and Mickelson on your fantasy golf team, before the start of round three, you would receive $22,500 in bonus money. ($7,500 for Els, $7,500 for Furyk and $7,500 for Michelson).
If you had Woods, Perry and Glover on your team, before the start of round three, you would receive $67,500 in bonus money. ($30,000 for Woods, $30,000 for Perry and $7,500 for Glover).
The same bonus system would apply at the completion of round four. At the completion of the tournament all of your bonus money will be added to your team tournament earnings to derive your total fantasy golf team earnings for that respective week.
